Kevin is a California native with an immense passion for holistic fitness/wellness and nutrition. He began weightlifting at the age of 15 and was introduced to the world of organic food and nutrition in his college years. He continued his personal and professional growth in the retail supplement business while cultivating and pursuing his other passion, music, as a singer/songwriter. Kevin has dedicated himself to not only sharing his musical talent, but also sharing his knowledge and love for fitness and nutrition. Kevin has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley, and integrates his interest in helping people into all of his pursuits.
Kevin believes the exercises one does in the gym setting should mimic everyday, real-life activities such as bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, etc. In the fitness world this is known as “functional” exercise- a more integrated form of exercise utilizing many joints and muscles simultaneously as opposed to traditional, isolated bodybuilding exercises. Kevin also realizes that nutrition and exercise are inseparable and knows firsthand the importance of putting the right food or “raw materials” into one’s body because the food you eat dictates the quality of the “house” you live in—your body. Kevin places a strong emphasis on the nutrition component to fitness and wellness and offers specialized nutrition coaching using a system called Metabolic Typing.
Kevin has a strong personal interest in Eastern healing and mind-body modalities such as Acupuncture and Qi Gong. We spend so much time expending energy every day and it is important to put some energy back into your body. Most people don’t consider that exercise is stress and Kevin likes to help people regulate and build a “Savings Account” of energy. His unique approach simply leaves people feeling more balanced in their bodies. Kevin has recently expanded his skill set by integrating the use of Russian kettlebells, joint mobility, dynamic flexibility, dynamic bodyweight exercises and Chi Gong into his program design resulting in workouts that leave one feeling stronger, more flexible and altogether more energized.
