Assessment

The IKFF prides itself on producing coaches that are the gold standard in the industry. Thus, our criteria for passing is strict.

Attending/participating alone is not enough to obtain CKT status. You must meet the designated criteria connected to the technical and coaching components of the course.

All CKT Level 2 candidates must pass a stringent assessment in order to successful complete the requirements and achieve the Level 2 CKT distinction. The assessment is to be the performance of all level 2 techniques (list the technique names). Form is checked to assure effective understanding and performance of the movements. In the case that a candidate is unable to successfully demonstrate competence in one of more of the Level 2 techniques, the student will receive a Certificate of Participation and will need to subsequently demonstrate correction of the techniques. There are numerous avenues in order to accomplish this, including attending a review Level 2 course, testing in person with an IKFF regional representative or by providing video evidence of the corrected techniques.

In addition to the assessment, all Level 2 CKT candidates must perform a Fitness Test during the Level 2 course, which consists of:

Men:  Jerks 2x20kg x 35 reps and Snatch: 20kg x 35/35 or 2x24kg x 20 reps and 24kg x 25/25

Women:  Jerks 2x8kg x 50 reps and Snatch 8kg x 50/50 or 2x12kg x 30 reps and 12kg x 35/35

To maintain CKT status (Level 1 and/or Level 2), it is required that you re-certify every 3 years.

For recertification,  we charge 500 Euro / 750 USD.
If you choose to attend the a CKT course as a review, the cost is 250 Euro / $350 USD.
Please note, a review within the 3 year period does count as a re-certification.

What is "Qi Gong"?

QI GONG

Qi gong is a traditional Chinese health keeping regime and an aspect of both traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese martial arts. Qi gong utilizes the theories of Chinese medicine such as the theories of qi “vital energy” and the meridians of acupuncture.

Popular forms of qi gong still practiced today have been developed since the Song dynasty (10th century) and before. Qi gong is one of the oldest continually preformed methods of exercise in the world.

As a system of exercise utilizing the body’s bioenergetic system for the promotion of health, it includes the use of breath, posture, relaxation, movement and intention to promote and increase the circulation of “Qi” which is the body’s vital energy.

Our body has an energetic system related to but apart from the nervous and circulatory systems. It is this energetic network that is manipulated in the practice of acupuncture and some types of Asian bodywork. In traditional oriental medical theory, the energy aspect of this network is called “Qi”.

Qi can be thought of as the body’s vital energy or motivating force, it is the “stuff” that animates our body. Every living organism has Qi. With conscious training this vital energy can be strengthened and controlled to promote health and longevity, this is the practice of qi gong or “working the qi”.

There are many methods of qi gong, including both active methods requiring movement and static methods similar to meditation. The numerous methods stress various aspects of the energetic system and different modes of training.

Qi gong can be preformed alone as a traditional health keeping regime or with other systems of exercise as a complete system of health maintenance and athletic performance. It can be done before vigorous exercise as a warm up or to prevent injury or after exercise to cool the body down, normalize the breathing and restore the energy. It can also be used as a method of rehabilitation to restore lost function from old injuries.

Qi gong can be done by people in all conditions and the exercises can be scaled to any state of health. Qi gong can greatly reduce recovery time between sets of vigorous exercise and increase total work capacity.

Continuous practice of qi gong can greatly improve health and promote longevity, improve the function of the nervous system, normalize blood sugar levels, increase and improve cardiovascular and pulmonary functions and instill a general since of well being and level of energy.
